I (finally!) heard back from the Colorado surgeon...

Thank you for the email. Dr. Bowers is currently scheduling in early 2009, so your timeframe looks very possible. We hope to keep the prices the same for 2009, but may have to raise them by $500 or $1000. We require payment in full no later than 30 days prior to surgery.

We generally request cashier's checks. However, a total of $12,000 can be paid via credit card.

The hell!? If that's all you want, then I have the cash and more than enough credit today. This is very, very good news indeed. Even if I can't get a low interest rate loan, I'm set either way.

Dr. Bowers does have a weight restriction of 210 pounds, but will perform surgery if you are under 250 pounds. If you are over the 210lb weight restriction, but under 250 pounds, Dr. Bowers will charge an additional fee of $500. This fee is due to longer OR times.

$500 more for 250? No problem! I've hit the Y three times this week already, and I'm aiming for 5 a week. Ideally, I'd want to be as skinny as possible for this, of course. An additional $500 charge is acceptable, more than the garbage Chettawut was feeding me.
