Welcome to deninet5.0r!

So, after nearly two years of deninet running on my own content manager, I give up on it. Sad, huh? It feels like I just finished writing Gazelle when I tear it down and put up a completely different system. Figures, eh?

There's a distinct purpose that I converted the site to a new system. For the last several years, I've been working very hard to create my own content manager, while pushing away my other project ideas. Novella is one of those ideas. It got to the point that I was actually using Gazelle as a reason to not work on anything else. I was also getting sick of working on CMSs. Yes, I still find them facinating, but my programming sensiblities would benefit from a different sort of project.

The other idea is that I was never very good at attracting people to work on my software projects. Writing a large CMS like Gazelle myself simply takes too long. And since I wasn't interested in continuing the project, I had little reason to go out and find developers. Drupal, however, already has a large body of developers and a thriving community online. I can easily find solutions to any problems with the system through drupal.org.

In affect, I've gained a development and support staff for the website. The site gains new features that I've long sought, and I gain the time to work on things that are more important to me.

Since I was heired by a software company some 9 months ago, Hacker-Tess has been well satisfied through her responsiblities at work. Some day this may change, and I'll hear the call of programming's sweet siren song. For now, however, Artist-Tess and Writer-Tess have been given full reign.

Since the beginning of the year I've been working on a new version of Novella: College Journal Manga. The story is far more refined than my 2002-2003 attempt. Thankfully, that comic never saw more than a few readers and 22 episodes (referred to in DE documentation as "Draft II"). The Draft III plotline is far more enticing. Earlier this month, I released Revision 4 of the Novella Outline. On August 9th of this year, Rivision 5 will be due. That gives me little under 5 weeks to put together the next revision. While I have some ideas, it's been difficult.

There's also another change to the site. There's no real "we" here anymore. This site is effectively my personal domain now, and I decided it was time to change some things. The site has been renamed "A Denizen's Entertainment" to reflect this more personal edge.

That's about it.
