The Military Story (013) - Pazi's Story Notes 1104.151249

Gafanna is populated by remnants of Ethiopian Americans, and much of the culture and food comes from that.

When eating native Gafana food, Dana will not be familiar with eating with her hands or scooping with bread. Zakiri foods are tailored to the general culture of the city (in this case Ethiopian), one part "old style kind of food" (modified meat, chicken, rice...something we'd recognize but in an odd way), and bizzare (genetically modified bullfrog meat, anyone?)

Primary grains are teff and amaranth, which she is not used to. Not used to getting rice or some other grain with every meal. Food is mostly eaten with the hands, bread or chopsticks, all alien to Dana. Flatware is incredibly uncommon, because it's just not part of this culture, and can be obtained if one looks hard enough for it. Foods she thinks will be familiar aren't (due to different ingredients, or methods of cooking). Vegetables are unrecognizable to her, and much more served than she's used to. Meats tend to be what's available in the wild (frog, pheasant, goat, rabbit, bison, deep), and now what she's used to from home.

She also finds it spicy as hell.
