Existentialism, Haiku, and the Tablet Age

The morning is a fertile ground for colliding thoughts. You're still groggy from sleep, and your mind isn't focused enough yet to drown out the noise it usually generates. Often, this state drifts me into the absurd. Laughter can usually be heard from the house bathroom as the bizarre thought collision reaches its zenith while I shower.

But then what will?

I feel I've lost myself over the last several years. I've lost my ability to write, to draw, to program, to create. Most nights pass away quickly and quietly with movies, music, or podcasts. It's difficult to focus on being creative when you work in a content production industry; by the time the evening comes, there's little energy left to do more.

Thinking out Loud

Drupal 7 is very close to a final release; at least, that's the rumor. It's not without some justification. RC3 was released today, and a global release party has been scheduled for January 7th. As a technophile and wannabe Drupalista, I've been following all these developments with great interest. Drupal 7 is a huge leap over the current GA version.

Time Off, Rambling

Pazi and I woke up early to hit the gym -- neither of us have been there for weeks. I've been keeping up on my exercise at home with my bicycle, my pair of free-weights, and my exercise ball. Even so, it's difficult to get a proper workout without the machines available at my local Y. I finished my normal cardio routine, but cut it short on strength training. I was running out of energy, and didn't want to keep Pazi any longer. We snacked for lunch, then headed up to Grant's for a nice home-made dinner and a night of bad movies.

The Clubhouse, the Workshop, and the Gallery

A couple of weeks ago I decided to purchase a new domain name for my new blog on Posterous. I had be considering abandoning LiveJournal for a while now for several reasons: I used it as a direct service. Most people I knew on LJ have left are no longer using it. Those that remained crossposted to other sites, or had grown hostile with time. My LJ account simply felt like a dead weight -- something I was lugging along only for the sense of nostalgia that it provided. Given that I've recently found myself too entrenched in my ways, I thought it best to do something different.

Looking in to Drupal 7

Last week was tiring and stressful. I had two classes being released at work. I was pushing myself rather hard to get as much in as I could before the deadline. On top of that, it was the end of the quarter on the day my classes were supposed to be released.

I had ordered a new Drupal 7 book with the hope that by the time the weekend arrived, I'd have time to dig in. While I did get some reading in, it wasn't nearly as much as I had wanted. I did, however, read enough to make me think about how deninet should be moving forward with this new version.
