deni-chan

deni-chan was the deninet web server for almost two years. I built her from an old from a motherboard, CPU, and memory I bought from a friend, and some spare parts I had lying around my apartment. Of course, I needed to buy one component: A case.

I admit that I went out of my way to find something a little flashy. I wanted a sidepanel window, some internal lighting, a temperature guage. I found just the thing for a really good price at a local Microcenter. When I pulled the case out of the box, it came with a surprise, alien fangrills. It was yet another aspect that made me fall in love with this case.

deni-chan's set of six front-panel lights cases an electric blue glow all the way into my kitchen at night.

deni-chan in light...

She had a relatively impressive case for how much I paid for it. The amount of lights in the thing illuminates my living room even in the dead of night. One extra feature I liked of the case was the temperature gauge in the front. Given the miniscule traffic the site has, I doubt the CPU will ever overheat.

Update: Actually, it did routinely in summer. I had to add a few extra fans to keep the deck of hard drives cool in the humid Minnesota summer.
